"The snow over the weekend along with With the 15 cm of snow on Monday has given us a good base to open with," said manager Scott Lemon.

Excited skiers have heard rumors of a new early season trail and are eager to try it out.

“We’ve had a busy summer. There was a lot of activity up here with the edition of the new Carl Wylie ski trail and building a stadium bridge,” said Lemon.

Local contractors and members of the club have donated their expertise, equipment and time towards completing the trail and bridge in time for early season skiing.

The design and planning of the trail came from the expertise of volunteer Don Wylie.  “The idea of the trail came years ago, when my father walked and ribboned the general route with the idea of creating an easy trail back from the cabin."

“The Carl Wylie trail makes the Black Prince cabin accessible to all skiers as it is a much easier grade returning to the day lodge. It is also very scenic,” said Wylie.

Later in the season the trail and bridge will be used in the Sparkling Hill Masters World Cup Event that is being hosted at Sovereign Lake, in which 1200 to 1500 competitors are expected to compete.

Sovereign Lake offers rentals, lessons and a full service day lodge. Program registration and seasons passes are available at Stussi Sports or online. For more information visit http://www.sovereignlake.com
