BC Parks Snow Day
January 17, 2010
Wednesday, January 20th
Students from Alexis Park will join Jerry the Moose from Parks for BC Snow Day. They will get into the Olympic Spirit by participating in a snow filled, healthy day of activity in the park. Activities will involve sledding, xc skiing, snowshoeing and interpretation from a BC Parks Ranger.
BC Parks are promoting healthy activity. Strong evidence suggests that the physical act of playing outdoors, whether in your backyard or in a park, is linked to healthier, happier and smarter children. Some clearly documented health links include:
• Improved concentration and school achievement
• Enhanced emotional coping and stress reduction
• Reduced symptoms of ADD and ADHD
• Improved motor coordination
• Reduced incidence of obesity
• Improved self-esteem
