The Silver coaching course provides practical, sport-specific, technical information required to help new coaches run practices for recreation and development athletes such as Biathlon Bears and Cadet Biathlon Programs.

Sovereign Lake Biathlon is pleased to offer an NCCP Biathlon Community Coaching Silver course. The Silver coaching course provides practical, sport-specific, technical information required to help new coaches run practices for recreation and development athletes such as Biathlon Bears and Cadet Biathlon Programs.

Description: This is a 1.5 day course with split time between a classroom-based setting and “in the field” instruction to ski and shooting techniques. The classroom portion will be conducted in the Sovereign Lake Nordic Club race office. Skiing and shooting technique sessions will take place by the range.

Who: This course is designed to help train new coaches to run club and squadron based biathlon programs. No previous experience coaching, racing, or participating in biathlon is required. Parents, supporters and athletes who will be coaching biathlon are strongly encouraged to enroll!

When: Friday, Nov. 15th from 17:00-21:00 and Saturday, Nov. 16th from 08:00-17:00

Course Fee: $125.00

Important:

1.All registrants must be members of Biathlon Canada. Registration can be completed here: http://biathloncanada.ca/membership/

2.All registrants must be 14 years or older. Electronic course materials will be provided.

3.A laptop or print-out should be brought to the course. Please bring a pen and paper

4.Please supply your own ski, boots and poles for the ski technique session. No experience is required.

5.The range session will include live firing at the biathlon range. No experience is required. If you have access to a biathlon rifle and ammunition, please bring them. There will be a limited number of rifles on hand to borrow.
