2025 Biathlon Summer Race Series

Sovereign Lake Nordic Club is hosting a Biathlon Summer Race Series!

New to Biathlon Racing? Here’s what to expect!

All races in the series use a Mass Start format, meaning that all competitors start at the same time, then it is a race to the finish line!

Races 1&2 – Individual Format

Friday, August 29th – Running

Friday, September 26th, Mountain Bike

You will complete 5 running or biking laps, with 4 stops at the shooting range in between.

The distance of the running race is between 3-4km on non-technical terrain.

The distance of the Mountain Bike race will be:

  • Novice – between 3-4km on non-technical terrain.
  • Intermediate / Advanced – Between 7-9km on partly-technical (blue) terrain.

Here’s how it works:

  1. Run or bike a loop
  2. Stop and shoot
  3. Repeat until you’ve done 4 shooting rounds, and 5 laps total.
  4. Finish strong on the final lap!

Duathlon / Relay Race

Friday, October 3rd, Run + Mountain Bike Duathlon & Relay!

You can race solo, or in teams of 2 or 4. Teammates take turns running and biking. Just like the individual race, there are 4 shooting stages.

The order stays the same:

Run/Bike -> Shoot -> Repeat 4 times -> Final lap to the finish!

The races will use the biathlon electronic rifles (eco-aims)

This environmentally friendly option is used to increase the accessibility of our wonderful sport!

This is a family friendly event, and open to ages 8 and up! :)
