Adult Heros

Welcome to our Newest Adult Cross Country Ski Program – Adult Heros for the 2024/25 season!

Sovereign Lake Nordic Club offers another cross-country ski program for adults 19 years and over, especially those who have other commitments (such as families or work)  and still want to ski. The program is designed to help participants become more confident skiers by improving their technique and fitness.  Led by a qualified coach, this program provides space for learning by offering two classic and two skate sessions each month. It also provides guidance and support for participants to develop a plan for skiing that will supplement the one session each week and fit into their lifestyles.

The program runs one night per week, 6:00-7:30 Tuesdays, at the same time as youth programs. This way those who have kids in programs can drop them off and take part in a program themselves.

The program has 4 four-week sessions. Each session includes a focus on technique and drills for the length of the session. Participants can choose to register for one month or up to all four months, with savings for signing up for four months at the time of registration. Any sessions missed by participants will not be compensated or rescheduled. Sessions cancelled by SLNC due to cold weather will be rescheduled later in the season as possible; if it is not possible, there will be no refunds issued. The sessions will run as follows:

  • November 26, 2024-December 17, 2024, 4 sessions Tuesday nights only from 6:00-7:30.
  • January 7, 2025-January 28th, 2025, 4 sessions Tuesday nights only from 6:00-7:30.
  • February 4th, 2025- March 25th, 2025, 4 sessions Tuesday nights only from 6:00-7:30.
  • March 4th, 2025- March 25th, 2025, 4 sessions Tuesday nights only from 6:00-7:30.

This is not a drop-in program; anyone participating must be registered for that month and that session date.

The program is best suited to skiers who are minimally able to ski 6 kilometers in 60 minutes on flat to gently rolling terrain (think Passmore Carl Wylie for those who have skied at Sovereign). If you have an injury or something has happened that makes you unable to participate in Adult Heros, please email the Adult Heros Coach to inquire about a refund.

While not for absolute beginners, the Adult Heros program caters to intermediate skiers. It is recommended that you have skied for a season or two before joining this group.
