Volunteers

The success of our events at Sovereign Lake Nordic Club, either hosting a race or an event is largely due to the efforts and involvement of the volunteers with our club.  We are looking for volunteers in all areas of competition: Greeting, Timing, Course, Stadium, Race Office and Food Service.

If you are interested in volunteering to help us, check our online volunteer area to view opportunities:

Biathlon Programs

Our Youth Biathlon Programs run as a fully integrated addition to the Track Attack and Junior Development programs.  When you enroll your child in a Biathlon Program, you must also enroll in the age-equivalent XC Ski Program. They will also enjoy being outside and active in the winter environment, putting them on the right path to a healthy lifestyle. Most importantly they will have tonnes of Fun!

Our Goals

To provide a fun action-packed experience for your children and develop capable young skiers. They will learn the FUNdamentals of cross-country skiing in an exciting environment with a certified, passionate team of volunteer coaches.

Volunteers

Sovereign Lake’s children’s programs do require a small amount of your time as a parent volunteer and there are many ways to contribute. We know everyone lives on different schedules these days and have designed a volunteer program to meet these needs. Contact our Program Administrator to find out how you can help.

Coaches

Our volunteer coaching team is certified under the NCCP system and is led by our Skills Development Coach (SDP) under the direction of our Cross-Country Head Coach. We are fortunate to have our Coach Leaders return year after year. They are always full of enthusiasm and ready to mentor budding volunteer parent coaches through the season. All of our lead coaches continue to stay current in their content and techniques by taking regular advantage of coach mentoring from our Head Coach and upgrading their certifications. Quality is where it is at.

All SLNC Coaches have a Nordiq Canada Coaching Licence, valid Criminal Record Check, and the required NCCP Coaching Certifications based on your child’s program level.

Program Guidelines

All of our programs follow Sport Canada’s current Long-Term Athlete Development guidelines and Nordiq Canada’s current Long-Term Athlete Development Model.

Sovereign Lake Nordic Club has implemented the new SafeSport Training Program for all SLNC Coaches.
